Spy v Spy

Finally, enough time for a proper post! O.K. I didn't HAVE enough time, I just made it... So Here Goes: I'm digging around on all the choon blogs you tube today, and I come across this crazy argument between Drop The Lime [DTL] Fans and General Midi Fans over each Remix of "Alice" by Moby. If you downloaded my most recent mix (GET IT HERE or see next post) then you would know that I picked the DTL Heavy Bass mix. As the name "Heavy Bass" implies, I've mostly been playing a strange concoction of: Fidget/Wobble Bass, Dubstep, Garage, House, Breakbeats & Electro. However, that is not to say that I dislike either mix. As you can tell from my Intro song for RightWorld:WrongWorld I dig the DTL version. However, even though the General Midi version was not heavy or upbeat enough for my last mix, it's a dang good mix. In fact, I wish the DTL version had a little more of the male vocal. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy each:

Drop The Lime Remix

So, both mixes are damn good... BUT, I do have one question after seeing the following video and that would be: WTF is up with this strange performance:

I mean really? are you serious? I'm all about a good performance from a DJ/Producer, but this is crazy man! Hopefully, someone will comment on this and tell me that this is actually some sort of FAKE YouTube Posting!! Please?

EVERYDAY I'M HUSTLIN'
If you've been in this scene for any time at all you MUST know that Electronic Dance Music and Hip Hop have always been joined at the hip. A sort of brother & sister Love/Hate type of relationship. Although it often seems sort of one sided. As in, we LOVE hip hop and they HATE dance music. Nevertheless, the relationships continue. Almost everyone I know loves all sorts of Hip Hop songs. Almost everyone I've ever met (be it street thug to Suit & Tie Corporate Types) loves a little Hip Hop. Everyone's seen the geekiest of geeks talkin' bout "If you see me in the club, It's Goin Down" or "Snap Yo Fangas, Do The Step" Even I was originally a little BBoy/breakdancer type with my buddy Philip from '84-'88 (that would be 19 hundred and 84 for you young bucks) and I spent a couple of years as a part-time Hip Hop DJ in the early 1990's. Later I caught the Techno/House bug and I officially completed the switch around 1993. Although I may not be a Hip Hop DJ anymore, I have always followed the trends and kept collections of all types of Hip Hop trax.

To see what I mean, you just need to take a minute to compare a lot of the old hip hop (1st Gen-East Coast then 2nd Gen-West Coast) tracks with the creation of various dance styles such as; BreakBeat, 2-Step, DnB, Jungle, etc. Just think of the Third Generation of Hip Hop (Southern Dirty South & Crunk) with the likes of Lil Jon, Yung Joc and others. Where did that sound come from? Well, I knew exactly what it was the first time I heard it. I was in Iraq and (to the surprise of all my young soldiers) I had to educate them on the fact that Lil' Jon and others did not "make up" that sound out of thin air. As soon as I heard "It's Goin Down" or "Snap Yo Fangas"-- I knew it was that Human Resource "Dominator" and LA Style "James Brown is Dead" -German Synthesisers making that sound. If you didn't already know this, here's a little VIDEO HISTORY for you:
"Dominator"(1991)

"James Brown is Dead"

VS.

"Snap Yo Fingers"(2006)

"It's Goin Down" (2006)

So here are some more crossovers for you. Even though it was a Great Track, we all know that Rick Ross' hip hop version of this was completely played out after it's release in August of 2006.

So, how long has it been now? Almost 3 years! So now come the dance remixes. We have such a short memory these days that I think it's just about time. And you know what? I friggin' love this song all over again! That's the Shiyaat!... DJ... Don't play that song ONE MORE TIME! But Here it goes:

RICK ROSS - "HUSTLIN":
This first remix is from a local crew that I just found out about named Paul Anthony & ZXX:

(AC Slater DubStep Remix)

(2 Bit Thugs Remix)
~No Video Available - 2 Bit Thugs Site~
Here are a few more Wobbly, Fidgety, Wonkity, Garage-Bassline-Dubstep-Hip Hop Crossover type tracks I've been playing or come across recently:

Cypress Hill "Insane In The Membrane (2Bit Thugs Remix)"
2 Live Crew "Party (2 Bit Thugs In Harmony 2x2 Remix)"
Chris Brown "Kiss Kiss (Dexplicit Mix)"
Khia "My Neck, My Back (MT Remix)"
Kriss Kross "Jump, Jump (Funkanomics Planet Cross Remix)"
Rihanna "Disturbia (Dj Weekends' Party Alarm Remix)"

WILD STYLE:
I guess you could say that this next track is not that "NEW" per se. It came out in mid December 2008, but I just recently found it. Somehow I kept passing it up! Since we are on a Hip Hop vs. Dance trip today, here's another perfect example of a tune with ties so tight, It could be a hot track in a dance OR hip hop club. As you can see from my current Chart and my latest Mix, it's one I wish I hadn't missed! This one is so friggin' NASTY that it is currently my favorite track right now. This is "Get Wild" Ft. Big Daddy Kane:Stanton Warriors. I'll my favorite mix up as soon as I track it down! Here's the "Deek & Solo Mix"

Update: It looks like my favorite version has become a Secret Weapon because it's not posted anywhere for free! So here's the only link I could find for my #1 song for April (even though it was released in December)

INTERESTING LINKS:
While browsing around looking for useful links to put up, I did a little google on Fidget (i.e. Fidget House). Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum and I found a pretty little site called: www.MissFidget.com. I'll keep reading through but here is just a few of the interesting things listed on what could possibly become my new Favorite News Source:

ShamWow Guy in a Bloody Brawl With Sex Worker!
Vince Shlomi is best known for his ShamWow infomercials. Recently while in Miami he had an unfortunate encounter with a sex worker that resulted in both parties being bloodied, battered and arrested. Apologies dear reader for these graphic bloody photos. Alas, I can’t do anything about the fact that the ShamWow guy is a celebrity.

I guess you could say he won the fight, sort of? But either way, MissFidget--You Rock!
